Who Is MARY KAY?

Mary Kay Ash was a real person, born in 1915 and died in 2001. In her early years she sold child psychology books door to door. In the 1930's she began selling, and became the manager of, Stanley Home Products Co.

At some point Mary Kay sat at her kitchen table and made a list of all the good points, and the things that could be improved with the companies she had worked for. Unwittingly she created a marketing plan for success.

In 1963, with $5,000, she founded Mary Kay Cosmetics in a Dallas storefront. The firm sold products door to door using 9 saleswomen. The business grew steadily, helped by Ash's positive philosophy and her generous use of incentives, such as free pink Cadillac's and diamond jewelry, for successful sales people.

MARY KAY Products

Mary Kay had a vision of empowering women and providing high quality products for them. She accomplished this with the use of direct sales agents known as beauty consultants. Many people really do enjoy the personal touch of someone coming to them and helping them decide what would be best for them as well as delivering the product.

It is this personal touch that allows Mary Kay to hold the title of the number 1 cosmetics selling company in the US and is rapidly expanding in 18 other countries.

The Mary Kay product line includes more than 200 premium products in 7 categories: facial skin care, color cosmetics, nail color, body care, sun protection, fragrances, and multi-vitamin and mineral supplements. The product line is comprehensive enough to cover all of your basic beauty needs and a little more.

What Makes MARY KAY Great?

Variety is the spice of life, but consistency is the hallmark of success. Mary Kay seems to have this concept firmly in mind with its products.

As you would expect, Mary Kay offers the usual things, lipstick, nail polish, perfumes and make-up. All of these products (and the colors that they come in) have been tested and proven to be good. The product is dependable and no matter where or when you order, you can be assured that it will be as good as the last time you ordered.

The variety is what really sets companies apart. One thing that many people have raved about, and is new to me, is the lip exfolient. If you have ever had lipstick flake off, it is probably because of dead skin cells. Mary Kay's lip mask will exfoliate your lips and not only make them feel great, but make your lipstick stay on longer.
